Lewis took the children to his mum's today so we can have some time to try and recover from this flu (and had a tyre blow out on the way home * sigh* - fortunately he was rescued by Sam and Aiden - thanks guys ) So now he is laid on one sofa and I am laid on the other and we are watching TV in a very quiet house....and it got me thinking.
Sometimes I wish we had had the opportunity to spend some time together as a married couple before our children came along. Sometimes on a chaotic day I wonder what on earth possessed me to have three children because it is really hard going and I get tired so easily. But laying here in our quiet house with hours to spend together, I am glad that we have three beautiful children to give our life such joy and purpose. It is nice to have some time together, I only wish that we were well enough to enjoy it! But I will be glad when the children come home and the chaos begins again because having children is challenging, but it is also so much fun.

Not the best week...
I started my new job this week and it is been great. I really enjoy it, and really feel like a human being in my own right now!
However, Lewis has had flu since Tuesday and yesterday i went down with it to so I''ve been off work today...not the best start to my new job. We are so sick that we have had to keep the children off school because we are too poorly to drive. It's been a long day, but the children have been fantastic. They were due to go their Grandma's tomorrow until Sunday because we're supposed to be going to a 30th birthday party, but now we have to miss the party and will probably spend the day resting tomorrow. Being ill frustrates me, does it show?
The nice part of today has been listening to the kids play together, they are such great children and I was really touched by the get well cards they made for us!
Fingers crossed I will be well enough to go back to work on Monday, but as Lewis is still ill I don't hold out great hope...yuck!

Fingers crossed...
Last week was just awful, everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. It was so depressing. This week had been better, but we are also picking up the pieces of last week. The definite high point was when I got called in to the head's office on Monday and out of nowhere, she offered me my dream job!! She has to clear it with the HR department first, but all being well I will start working as a Teaching Assistant on Monday, supporting a boy with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Ever since I was at uni I've always wanted to work one on one with a child with special educational needs. To be able to work at New Holland, and work around my children is fantastic. So let's hope this is the start of better times for our family.

You can't always get what you want...
but as it happens I just did! After months of anticipation I am finally the proud owner of a creative memories milestones albums. It's so lovely I just sit a and stroke it...but here comes my problem...it's so nice I don't want to use it!!!! I am going to have to reserve it for scrap booking those special days I think.
Which reminds me, we have just "booked in" Caitlin's baptism, which will be on her eighth birthday - the 26th of February. She is having great fun organising it!
On a more serious note, I learnt something the other day on my training course which I feel I must share with every parent I know. It's a little delicate. The lady taking the session on "sexualised behaviour in the classroom" stressed to us the importance of using the correct names for various parts of the body, particularly genitals. She gave us two examples, one was about a boy who had been abused (dreadful I know) but because he accused the abuser of touching his "little man" the defence barrister gave the argument that the boy was referring to an action figure the accused abuser had purchased for the little boy. The second case was about a young girl who had been spoken to openly by her parents about this topic. Sadly she was abused which is awful, but she was able to give a very articulate statement to the police and as a result a conviction was easily achieved. Now I am sure, as Lewis pointed out, that there were other factors involved here. But it seems to me that should a child ever be in that situation (heaven forbid) it makes getting a conviction a lot easier if the child can use the correct words. It's a frightening world, but please pass this message on.

Happy New Year!
Just wanted to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy New Year. I do hope that 2011 is a wonderful year for you and those around.
At this time of year I love to look back over my blog and see some of the things that we have been up to over the last 12 months. I'm not the only one, my friend Jamie does the same to as I discovered yesterday.
This time last year I was hoping to be healthier. Well, I don't know that I am any healthier, I haven't lost any weight, but on the plus side I haven't gained any either. I did join a gym, but it's not working out to well so I really need to start using it or stop paying for it! I also need to get back in the habit of using the Wii to exercise. I also want to be financially healthier this year, and so far we are on track for this :)
We have been to see our Bishop today and discussed Caitlin's baptism and now things are well on the way. Lewis and I have promised each other that we will do better between now and Caitlin's birthday so that we can be in a better spiritual state to support Caitlin in her decision. I am very excited for her.
It has been an eventful week and very tiring but enjoyable to. I have to say I am looking forward to taking the decorations down and getting back to normal, although it is always sad to see the children going back to school, I love having them at home even if I am worn out at the end of each day. Nathan will be going to school full time in September...then what will I do???!
