So the tonsilitis battle continues. I really thought I would have got rid of it by now, but it is a stubborn thing! It is definitely getting better though. However, my diet is still pretty restricted and I can only manage soft foods like noodles, soup, or ice cream. The ice cream part isn't so bad!!
I have been looking at my garden today and thinking how out of control it is. It really gets me down because the children play so nicely outside when it is all clean and tidy but when it gets in a state I don't really like them out there and they hate being cooped up in the house. I just can't understand where we have accumulated so much rubbish from and I am seriously contemplating hiring a skip to get rid of all the rubbish that is in our garden e.g the carpet we took out of our room, the dog kennel that the dog never uses etc etc. I hope that I am feeling better by Monday and that the weather is ok because if so I want us to blitz the garden as a family and get is sorted out ready for winter. I am also contemplating having a bonfire party this year for family and friends. That would get rid of our old table and chairs to! I love this time of year, Hallo'ween and Bonfire night is sooooo much fun; and then of course after they are done I can start the official countdown to my birthday. I am hoping this year that we can go out together as a family for an All-you-can-eat Chinese. Lewis is not keen on Chinese food and I am missing it so doing that would be a real treat.
We went to the Steps Fun day today. I was quite nervous because it is the first time I have held a Creative Memories stall. The day was a success for the Steps Charity which is fantastic, but it went less well for my business and I didn't generate a lot of interest. However, it was a very good learning experience and I am very glad I went. I really need to get on with planning some parties but I find it so hard to ask people because I feel like I am being pushy which makes me uncomfortable, but I'm going to have to just do it! I am hoping to do a workshop in October or November so that's my next thing to plan. Busy, busy, busy!!

The Miracle Cure
So here it is the miracle cure for illnesses, but it only works on women! I have been off colour all week but got really poorly on wednesday. Turns out I had tonsilitis and have felt really rough these last couple of days. Lewis has been very sweet and fetched me lemsip, paracetemol as well as driving me to the hospital at 6:30am yesterday. However, he has resisted any temptation to do any house work what so ever!! And so you can imagine the state of my house! At around 6pm tonight I finally cracked! I couldn't hack the pile of dishes on the side or the mountain of washing in the kitchen any longer so armed with a stack of prescribed medication I spent thirty minutes blitzing the house before collapsing in a heap, but now it looks so much better and I can be sick in an almost clean house.
And so there it is a miracle cure to most illnesses, no normal woman can stand to be ill in a mucky house and will eventually have to get up out bed and clean; even if it is only for a little while!

Flu
I have flu and I am NOT happy!! I always say I want to have a day in bed, but now I am forced to stay in bed and it is driving me stir crazy! I'm never happy, lol!!

The 'I love America' challenge
I said to Jamie that she should write ten things that she liked about Britain on her blog, and then I would write ten things that I liked about America on mine and we would call this whole America vs England thing even! While I have to say that it is unlikely that this will end the friendly jibes because it is so much fun, I am not one to decline a challenge. So after eating half a bar of dairy milk chocolate to get my brain going, (because I knew this would be tough!!) I have devised a list of 10 things I like about America...
1) Swedish fish, skittles, Oreo cookies and root beer. Swedish fish are yummy. I could eat them forever and they are apparantley fat free. Well done America, that was very smart. Not so low in fat are the skittles, but they are so much better than British ones it's worth it! Oreo cookies and milk...again yummy. Didn't like them at first but have totally been converted. As someone who has had the odd alcoholic drink in the pre-Church days (and it really was the odd one, my step-dad told me yesterday that my lack of alcohol consumption as a teenager had them worried!!) I don't know why anyone would want to spend all that money on something that will give them a headache, make them pee in people's drawers, throw up etc etc; when you could just drink root beer which tastes much better and has none of the adverse side effects.
2) The American attitude to life. It's all that land of opportunity stuff, their whole attitude to their flag etc - although it annoys me - has to be admired. They do seem to be so much more unified than Britain, because let's face it us English lot can't get on with the Welsh or the Scots, so how we'd cope with 50+ neighbouring countries/ states I don't know.
3) David Duchovny. It's simple maths really Mr Duchovny + weird alien stuff = :)
4) Fords!!!! Ok so my impression of America was that they all drove around in very large hummer type trucks. I kind of knew that Ford was an American company, but never really pictured Americans driving them. I love my ford mondeo and always wanted a green ford mondeo ever since I saw one. My mondeo might look like a pile of junk to most, but I love it.
5) Friends, Scrubs and 24. You know when you have one of those crappy everything goes wrong days? There's nothing better than watching Friends/ Scrubs/ 24 and knowing things could be worse.
6) American presidents. Ok this one is kind of cheating. But the American Presidents do provide excellent comedy value. Bill Clinton? George W Bush? You know what I'm saying. And it's not that we don't have some dumb leaders our selves ("Don't stay in China long or you will all get slanty eyes" - nice one Prince Phillip) but the American ones are somebody elses leaders, their mess-ups rarely affect our lives.
7) Scrapbooking. I'm sure that Brits have been scrapbooking for years, but the latest craze for scrapbooking has probably come from across the pond. I really love it. It is always fun to look back on pictures of my kids doing mad things and put them in pretty albums.
8) High School Musical and Grease. These lovely stories about high schools where they have pep rallies, basketball games that are hugely important, homecoming queens, proms, we just don't get it over here, and that kind of makes me sad. I would have loved being a pink lady - ofcourse I would never have been cool enough but I can dream. High School just sounds so much more fun. The only excitement we had was when James Whallhead put his arm through a window and that happened once in 7 long years!
Can I just say I am genuinely surprised I have got this far!!
9)Disney - perhaps this is kind of the same as number 8 but Disney is sooo huge it had to have it's own one. I love Disney. Pirates of the Carribean, HSM, Disney Princesses; but most of all I love the quote from Walt Disney that is in the Meet the Robinsons movie - "Keep Moving Forward" I just think he must have been an incredible man.
10) Jamie. Jamie is one of the most interesting people I have ever met. She is I think a product of many of the things above including her whole attitude towards her country and to life. She doesn't put up with crap from people and says whatever she likes whether or not she knows if anybody agrees with her. I don't agree with everything she says, and she doesn't agree with everything I say, but she still has this whole Keep moving forward attitude and doesn't tend to let things fester. I like that.
Challenge complete...phew. I feel very disloyal now I think I need to go and watch cricket in the rain and sing 'God Save the Queen'. lol, :)

THE SUN IS SHINING!!!
Wow, now you don't see that very often round here do you? I know that I should be outside making the most of it but I am sooooo sleepy. So instead I am going to snuggle up with Esaias and read some books while Nathan has a nap. We have been for a walk this morning and the boys have been out playing on their scooters and trikes and stuff so I don't feel too guilty!
Lewis is on a training day today to learn how to use some PDA thing that will let him scan fingerprints or something. All sounds a bit CSI to me, lol!
I am going to a Pampering Evening tonight at Scunthorpe Ward. I am booked in for an Indian Head Massage and a pedicure. Helen is feeling poorly so she isn't coming, do you think it would be rude to pinch the facial I booked for her?? Jamie is going to, so I'm also looking forward to having a good old natter...she can tell me how odd the British are and I can tell her how obnoxious the Yanks are everyone is happy :)
