Summer Holiday Stuff

We have spent a lot of the holiday doing things like this...
...because I have learnt from experience that summer holidays are a time to relax not a time to fly around like a nutter, carting your kids (and yourselves) here, there and everywhere.
Also, it makes it extra special when you do take a potter out to some where like this...
Or to make things like these... (creepy aren't they?!)

London 2012

It never takes much for me to be waving the Union Flag, and while I have little interest in sports, I will be supporting Team GB all the way.  No matter what the results are, 2012 is a time to be proud to be British!

We went to see Peter Rabbit in the Park.  It was a really lovely afternoon, full of fun but in a nice relaxing way!  Nathan is still spotty but sitting outside helped him keep his temperature down.  As soon as we went inside it started going up again, poor little guy.  The theatre company were great and incredibly resourceful as these little companies tend to be.  The guy who played Peter Rabbit looked about ready to drop when he'd finished but gave a very energetic performance, running around the crowd and jumping off the stage to the great amusement of all the children!

Fine dining!

Last night we went out to San Pietro in Scunthorpe to celebrate my little brother's 29th birthday. It was definitely an experience!! I have to say while I have always enjoyed a meal out, I'm not one for fancy food. Give me scampi and chips with a slice of lemon any day! I had "Lamb Roast rump of English lamb, elements of smoked garlic, red pepper and black olive, mint pesto filled gnocchi, lamb jus."

Between me and you I prefer my meat dead and well cooked and I was a little afraid that it was going to jump off the plate and sing Baa, Baa Black sheep. The rest of the meal was very nice, and I enjoyed the appetisers. Best of all was the chocolate pyramid for dessert, it was delicious and was exactly what it said it was!

It was nice to just sit around and giggle after so many weeks of stress.  I confess a little bit of the giggling was aimed at one of the waiters who was tall he reminded us of Le Frog from Flushed Away he he!  He was very attentive and did his job well though.
A nice evening indeed, with a big thank you to Martin and Jamie for babysitting so we could have a much needed night of fun.

Barton Bike Nite 2012

 Bikes coming into Barton.
 Nathan enjoying the candyfloss!

We went over to Pip's house afterwards where Nathan enjoys making tracks in her carpet.  Today he did a love heart and wrote "Mum" in it... he's such a cutie!

Olympic Torch Relay

I am a bit late posting this, but on 26/06/2012 we went to see the Olympic Torch pass through Immingham and I am so glad we did.  This will be a once in a life time event for me and probably the children to, so it was very special.  Lewis was doing his bit by guarding the torch in Wrawby so Jess, Abbie and Nic came with us.  We got a really good place to stand and saw it all without being pushed or shoved, it was very civilised!!
