PS

I am the dentists again today, Lewis says they will be using Rhino tranquilisers on me this time! I hope it goes ok!

Plant project

This is more for my record because I will forget where I have planted what and when! But I would also be grateful for any advice on how best to grow the plants I have planted because I have just kind of thrown them in and am currently hoping for the best!
Above are my two potato pots. I have just used some potatoes we had bought to eat, but they have been sat in the cupboard a while so they sprouted. I know that some say that you should only used seedling potatoes because others may spread a virus into your soil, but I figured since I aren't planting these out it doesn't matter because if they don't grow or grow funny I can just throw the soil out, wash the pots and start again. My Dad says that potatoes are really hard to kill so we'll see what happens! There are three potatoes in each pot and they have been planted with the sprouts pointing upwards because this is what is says to do in my book. Planted on the 31/03/2009

There is a story behind these two pots. When I used to stay at my Nanna Ashby's house when I was about 8 or 9 years old (my great grandma) her toilet was downstairs. I guess it was originally outside but my Nanna had a "conservatory" added onto the house which incorporated the toilet and the coal shed. So instead of having to go downstairs in the middle of the night she would put a potty under the bed. She never called it a potty though it was always a "jemima". Sadly my Nanna passed away in May 2007 at the grand old age of 91. When I was asked what I wanted from the house the only thing that came to mind was the "jemima". It seems odd that I would ask for a potty I used 18 years ago, but then I never said I was sensible! And so here are the two jemimas I inherited from my great grandma, with thyme and parsley seeds planted in them. The seeds where planted on the 25/03/2009.

The funny shaped pot is one we got from the Factory Shop, it is quite clever because you can buy more of this type and stack them up, which is what I am hoping to do. In this one I have lettuce and radish seeds, also planted on the 25/03/2009. They are currently in the shed near the window. Also planted in the little seed trays are peas, onions and pumpkins. I have bought some beetroot, carrot, rocket and cabbage seeds to but I'm just waiting for them to arrive. I also bought a Magnolia plant, which I am so thrilled about because I have always wanted one. I don't really do plants for decoration, although I think I will put some daffodils in for next year, but I have always thought the Magnolia trees are so beautiful. Here's hoping it survives in my garden under my care!
The apple trees are also starting to grow again now, which I am really pleased about because we were worried they might die after the move from Wootton to Ulceby, but - touch wood - they have made it!

And here is one of the best things I have grown, my little Nathan he is such a cutie! This is his camera posing face!

Dylan in wellies

I didn't manage to catch Dylan squatting in his wellies which was kind of the funniest part, but even so he looks so funny in Esaias's wellies! Jamie went into hospital this morning so hopefully Dylan will be a big brother by the time the day is out! Good Luck!

A tough week

I know that there are people out there who have had a really tough week last week (Jamie for one), but this week has been just exhausting for me and I'm not really sure why.
I'm not sure if it is because I went to the dentist to have a filling and came out after 40 minutesexaclty the same as I went in (plus a very bruised jaw) because the dentist didn't have a strong enough anasthetic to numb my mouth properly! Perhaps it is because I have been helping Mum move house as she is getting a divorce from my stepdad. Perhaps it is because Lewis has done four night shifts (1-10/11pm) and that always feels a bit of a killer becuase he is not around at bedtime...but whatever the reason I hope next week is a bit better. Though I have had some super blessings today so maybe I used up my ration???

Esaias's Birthday

Esaias blowing out his candles!

Jamie thought I was joking when I said we would be having birthday cake for breakfast! I wasn't! Of course we had healthy stuff to, but a birthday isn't a birthday unless you have cake for breakfast!

Esaias's Birthday

It's all been chaos as usual round here so I haven't posted much (sorry Joan!), but here is a picture of Esaias on his 4th birthday, all grown up! I can't believe he starts school full time in September. I love the school that the children go to, and it is one of the best in the area (OFSTED agree with me), but I still wish I had the guts to home school them. I would love to learn along with the children, and have an adventure with them every day instead of having this mad dash to get them to school on time and then spending the rest of my day doing school runs. Maybe I will feel differently when they are all full time and I become a lady of leisure!
Touch wood, we are all healthy at the moment. I have a bit of a toothache, but don't feel bad for me it is self inflicted. Two years ago I was sat in Church crunching sweets and cracked a filling in my tooth. I never got round to do anything about it, but now it has started to be painful. So I went to the Dentist's on Monday to have it sorted, but after three shots of anasthetic my gums were still not numb enough for him to re-do the filling. Perhaps some would have been annoyed by this, but I have to say I am glad it happened that way. About 15ish years ago I needed a filling (probably the one I cracked!). The dentist gave me three injections into my gum, but it still wasn't numb. He didn't believe me when I told him it wasn't numb so he went right ahead and started doing the filling, I was in so much pain I bit him to make him stop! So for me and the dentist sending me home while they order in stronger anasthetic si the safer and less painful option!!
Lewis has had a few days off which has been nice, though I still don't feel like I have had any quality time with him! He's on four nights in a row from tomorrow. I know I am blessed that that is the longest he has to work, but it is such a long day and I miss him so much! I am finding that it is quite rare to find a couple who actually enjoy each others company as much as we do. I really feel like I married my best friend, and although we each have our faults, we have so much fun to.
I am exhausted after giggling so much at the Book Club, so I am off to bed! We have Dylan to stay tonight so it's going to be crazy in the morning, fun, but still crazy! Here's hoping Dylan will have a new baby brother/ sister in the next couple of days.
